YANA’s Fall Roundtable was once again hosted at social enterprise cafe COFFEED on Long Island City and was an evening not to be missed by nonprofit practitioners! Roundtable members enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres & wine (courtesy of Roundtable member Frank Raffaele ’95) while discussing Social Media Best Practices for Nonprofits.

Master storyteller and digital media strategist Jordan Ruden of One Eyed Acres kicked off the evening with an engaging presentation on key topics, including:

  • What Is Social Media and Why Should Nonprofits Care?
  • The Social Media Landscape: Platforms and the Digital Media Audience
  • Defining Digital Goals and Creating a Story

Jordan’s presentation was followed by a Roundtable panel, which included panelists Emad Salem of Battery Dance, Cara Chard of City Growers, and Brad Fleming of Brooklyn Grange Farm. Each panelist  shared case studies & lessons learned in nonprofit social media strategy, as well as answering questions from the panel moderator, YANA Chair of Marketing & Outreach Sarah Tomita, and fellow Roundtable members.

The very productive evening concluded with an informal networking session — virtual, as well as in-person — and Roundtable members engaging in a flurry of tweets, likes, and shares!
