Conversation with Renowned Playwright & Librettist
David Henry Hwang (Yale Drama ’83)
The Yale Club of San Francisco & the Stanford Women’s Club of San Francisco invite YANA members to an online conversation with renowned playwright and librettist David Henry Hwang (Stanford ’79, Yale Drama School ’83), who was featured in a YANA event last year.
He will discuss his career and how he came to adapt the great classic of Chinese literature, “Dream of the Red Chamber,” into an opera commissioned by the San Francisco Opera. This is a rare opportunity to explore the process by which a new opera is created and is sure to enrich our understanding of how this time-honored art form continues to evolve in the modern age.
