July’s New York Monthly Meeting’s Spotlight featured Griffin Pinkow, founder of the Foreseeable Future Foundation, a nonprofit that focuses on improving the lives of the visually impaired through sports and recreation. Griffin has completed four marathons, competes at the national level in cycling, and recently learned to snowboard – all while being blind.

Here is a message from Founder Griffin Pinkow:

Hello! My name is Griffin Pinkow. I suffer from retinitis pigmentosa which is a retinal degenerative disease. In college, I worked with a number of organizations that represented the visually impaired. I enjoyed working with these organizations but, found that they were focused solely on research and not on the individual living life without sight. We launched the Foreseeable Future Foundation to fill that gap. We created programs that help the visually impaired to live fulfilling lives, increase public awareness of challenges faced by the blind. We are committed to bringing the sighted and sightless community together to build one network that is mutually beneficial and enriching for all. We have hosted Spin Classes, Pilates classes in the Dark, and we have worked with a number of other organizations that help the visually impaired thru sports.
