nomi logo1st prize: Nomi Network, a New York City-based nonprofit that is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty that perpetuates human trafficking globally

  • Currently helping women in in South and South East Asia, Nomi Network trains and creates job opportunities for women who are survivors or who are at risk of being trafficked. Nomi creates economic opportunity by training these women to manufacture their signature Buy Her Bag Not Her Body® and Made for a Better LifeTM products, which are sold in the U.S. to raise funds and awareness of trafficking
  • Nomi Network’s engaging use of social media via its frequent posts and beautiful photos on Facebook has inspired over 2,500 ‘likes’, and Nomi has generated almost as many followers on Twitter. Please  support Nomi Network and continue to spread the word of their cause via social media!
  • A feature profile of Nomi will be included in YaleWomen‘s December e-newsletter, which has a circulation of 6,000+ alumni globally! Special thanks to Jen Ding TC’10, Nomi Network ambassador, for nominating Nomi Network for #Yale4Good

all our kin logo1st runner-up: All Our Kin, a nationally-recognized, New Haven-based nonprofit founded by two Yale alumni, Jessica Sager LAW’99 and Janna Wagner JE’95, trains, supports, and sustains community child care providers in order to ensure that children and families have the foundation they need to succeed in school and in life

  • Through their programs, All Our Kin helps child care professionals succeed as business owners; working parents find stable, high-quality care for their children; and children, the workforce of tomorrow, gain an educational foundation that lays the groundwork for achievement in school and beyond.   • All Our Kin engages followers via two twitter handles (@allourkin and @jessicasagerAOK), their Facebook page, as well as a content-rich blog to spread awareness of the key issues impacting children and community childcare providers. Yale Alumni Nonprofit Alliance (YANA) and YaleWomen are proud to announce and co-sponsor the inaugural #Yale4Good Excellence Awards – to recognize and celebrate Yalies promoting social good via social media. The awards contest, which will run from Nov. 2 – Nov. 20, will showcase Yale students, faculty, and alumni at their best — giving back, changing lives, and connecting with all.

Prizes include a feature profile in both YaleWomen’s December newsletter and YANA’s website for the winning cause, as well as a 1-hr consulting session with digital media strategist Jordan Ruden of OneEyedAcres for the runner-up.

To nominate your cause, submit a 500-word statement describing:

  1. Why your organization deserves to be recognized and why Yale alumni should support your cause and
  2. How your organization has rallied support via social media engagement (including metrics such as likes, re-tweets, and shares).

Statements should be emailed to yale4good@gmail.com by Wed. Nov. 20 and include your name, Yale affiliation, and a photo of yourself (for marketing purposes)

Nominees are also encouraged to demonstrate their social media engagement during the contest period (Nov. 2 – Nov. 20) by tagging posts about their cause with #Yale4Good and inspiring audiences to promote and share.

Winners will be announced via twitter @YaleWomen and @Yale_Nonprofit on Monday, November 25th.  Good luck — we look forward to being inspired by your stories and tweeting about how all Yalies are promoting and sharing social good!
