BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT
IN HOWARD PARK
Saturday, July 21 | 10:00am-2:00pm
Yale Community Connect volunteers had a wonderful time painting basketball courts — in purple — on a gorgeous summer day in Brownsville. We thank the Brownsville Partnership, The Mission Continues/The Mission Continues NYC, and yale.NYC for organizing and volunteering with us! #YaleAlumni.
Many of us stayed after the project for a tour of Brownsville led by the Brownsville Partnership. We saw a leafy community garden, vibrant community murals, graphic designer entrepreneurs from MadeInBrownsville.org, and heard the 8-year-old talented YoungTrell perform. We ate lunch at 3 Black Cats, a restaurant/bakery founded by three sisters who needed to find work that would allow them to rear their children.
The Mission Continues has invited us back to put finishing touches on the Howard Park basketball courts on Saturday, August 18, 10 am to 2 pm. All are welcome, especially those who volunteered on July 21 and know the drill! Register at this link.
