BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT
IN HOWARD PARK

Saturday, June 22, 2019

Astrid Andre ’94, Sam Rubin ’95 and Julie Zuckerbraun ’82 took part in the Yale Community Connect volunteer event at Howard Playground in Brownsville, Brooklyn on Saturday, June 22. They were joined by volunteers from The Mission Continues — a nonprofit that organizes community service events for veterans — to create a team of more than 20 volunteers.

The group completed the painting of the playground’s basketball courts based on a design (light blue stars on a purple background) requested by the Youth Council of the Brooklyn Public Library. The volunteers also painted 12 park benches and installed five new basketball nets.
